Suggest only what the patient needs
The rule is simple. Suggest a product because it helps this patient, never because you need to clear stock. Explain why, and say they can buy something similar elsewhere. Patients notice, and their trust is worth more than any margin.
Keep a small, useful range
Start with what you recommend every week: bands, tape, a few braces and belts in common sizes, hot and cold packs. Add more only when you keep ordering the same item.
Price fairly
Keep prices close to what patients pay outside, with a fair margin for your time and stock. Being slightly higher than the cheapest online price is fine if you fit it properly and teach how to use it.
Track your stock
Products block money and go missing without records. Record what comes in and what is sold, set a reorder level and count monthly. In Clinidiary, inventory does this, and selling an item at the visit adds it to the bill and reduces stock together.
One bill for everything
Add the product to the same bill as the session, so it is simple for the patient and your records. See GST bills.
Describe products honestly
Say what the product is and how to use it. Do not promise cures.
Products are one small income among several. See a second income stream and earning more without longer hours.
