Stock and Retail in a Physio Clinic: Braces, Tapes and Supports

Most physio clinics sell a few things at the desk: knee braces, lumbar belts, cervical collars, kinesiology tape, cervical pillows, resistance bands. It is useful for patients and adds to the clinic's income. But stock kept in a cupboard and a notebook is easy to lose track of, and products bring GST into a clinic that otherwise bills GST-exempt treatment. This guide explains how stock and retail work in Clinidiary.

Products on the same bill as treatment

Add a product to a patient's bill alongside their session. One bill, one payment, by cash, UPI or card. The treatment line is GST-exempt and the product line carries GST, each with its own code. See GST billing for physiotherapy clinics.

GST and HSN on every product

Each product has:

  • its price, shown including GST or not, as you prefer;
  • its own GST rate;
  • its HSN code, printed on the bill line.

Retail products usually carry GST, unlike most treatment, so a new product starts with GST included in its price. Check the right rate for each product with your supplier or CA.

Stock counted per branch

Stock is counted per branch. When the front desk sells a knee brace, it comes off that branch's shelf. You can see what is left at each branch, so a patient at one branch can be told the brace is available at another. See multi-branch physiotherapy clinic software.

Bring your product list in

If you have your products in Excel or another system, import them from the file. The tax is set correctly on the way in, rather than left for you to find later on a bill. See moving your clinic from paper or Excel.

What sells

The Inventory report shows stock and sales. Clinic reports show how much of your revenue comes from products.

Your equipment, too

A physio clinic owns a lot of equipment: IFT and ultrasound machines, TENS units, a traction table, treadmills, computers. Clinidiary keeps a register of your equipment: where each item is, who has it, and when it is due for a service. No more finding out the ultrasound calibration is two years overdue.
